Kennedys is looking to recruit an Working Capital Assistant Manager to join our global Finance team based in Chelmsford. The successful applicant will contribute to the effectiveness of the Finance department by providing a comprehensive and efficient service to internal and external clients in order that the business objectives of the firm and the department are achieved.
Team
Kennedys Finance team support the firm globally producing timely and accurate financial and management information, reporting solutions and operational support to maintain the high standard of service offered to the firm's internal and external clients.
Our Finance team is made up of Financial Control, Financial Planning and Reporting, Management Accountants, Working Capital Management, Legal Cashiers and a Master Data Management Team.
Our UK Finance team is based in Chelmsford and London and have a presence in eight global offices.
Key responsibilities
- To lead and develop a team that provide proactive transactional support for billing and collections, providing an efficient and effective billing solution, and maximising collections to actively support reduction of lockup
- Actively develop strong relationships at Team Leader/Partner level, leading and/or supporting the team with regular lockup reviews, with the purpose of pursuing billing opportunities and specific actions to accelerate collections
- Working collectively with other Assistant Managers and the team ensure that all queries and issues are returned to fee earners resolved utilising the combined knowledge and resource in the Working Capital Management and wider Finance team.
- Working with peers, ensure that all staffing issues regarding holiday & sickness cover, performance and recruitment are managed in a collaborative and consistent manner.
- Monitor team and individual performance to ensure the delivery of a first class service across the firm.
- Ensure a high standard of service to the firm's internal clients to assist in developing the professional reputation of the department
- Develop, motivate, mentor and coach team members.
- Mentor and develop team members to problem solve and aspire to stand out as SMEs and future leaders within the team.
Required experience
- Demonstrable experience of leading transactional teams covering billing and/or collections with a strong track record in goal setting, performance management, recruiting, training, performance management and disciplinary.
- Must have Advanced Excel and reporting skills: Ability to streamline data reporting to internal and external customers into meaningful information, report writing, data trend analysis. Word, PowerPoint presentation of monthly numbers.
- Experience in legal and insurance sectors would be beneficial, but key is a strong target driven, commercial mindset.
- Flexible and adaptable to deal with changing requirements, able to balance competing priorities and deliver in line with management expectations
- Can do attitude with excellent communication and relationship building skills. Pushing team to adopt the same Can do attitude to problem solving to both internal and external issues.
