Full Time, Fixed Term for 12 months

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to work in the Substance Use team as part of our Inclusion Health and Health Protection programme within Communities and Public Health at Bristol City Council on a fixed term basis.

What will I be doing?

We expect this post holder to lead a programme to lead the design, delivery and evaluation of the Combatting Drugs Partnership Workforce Development Programme working alongside the Transformation Programme Strategic Lead.

Taking a whole system approach across commissioners and providers, the postholder will be responsible for:

  • Undertaking a review of 'as is' and 'to be' workforce and roles required against national occupational standards, capacity and capabilities.
  • Assessing needs, designing and mobilising a multi-faceted, ROADS-wide workforce development programme with clear criteria. This may include, amongst other things, reviewing any existing workforce development plans in partner agencies and any needs analyses, identifying a range of 'off the shelf' training and development opportunities, overseeing procurement of any bespoke requirements that could be delivered at scale and the development of a bursary programme for training and mentoring activities that support.
  • Overseeing a programme of access to RCGP Part 1 and 2 Training across the Primary Care Workforce in the City's 41 GP Practices.

What do I need to have?

At this level, the post-holder will be expected to demonstrate experience of working in an operational/service delivery role as well as project management experience.

Proven experience of:

  • Working with a range of stakeholders across multiple providers.
  • Planning, controlling and monitoring project delivery, including project budgets.

For employees who are currently on a fixed term contract with Bristol City Council, the secondment must not extend beyond the end of the fixed term period to ensure there is a substantive post to return to.

If you are currently a casual worker or a member of an employment agency (currently working with Bristol City Council) this post will be a fixed term contract.
