Wellbeing Mentor

As part of the Additional Learning Support Team, your primary focus will be supporting students experiencing mental ill health. Many of these learners will also have associated learning difficulties, disabilities or medical conditions and may have an Education Health and Care Plan, (EHCP) or be in receipt of Disables Students' Allowance, (DSA). You will provide tailored, person-centred support across all curriculum areas, helping these learners manage their wellbeing and make positive progress throughout their studies.
What you'll do
- As a Wellbeing Mentor, you will undertake initial assessment of students presenting with issues that are impacting on wellbeing and make a recommendation for a plan of support, including providing individual interventions and support to empower students to manage their own wellbeing
- You will work with students of all ages on every level of course from entry level to degree level. As such, you will need to tailor your approach accordingly to promote independence, dignity and self-efficacy.
- You will also work closely with the safeguarding team to appropriately support students with more complex needs.
What you'll bring
- Experience of supporting people with mental health and wellbeing issues including dealing with complex situations, including crises.
- Experience of multi-agency working and liaison with a range of professionals.
- Excellent time management skills and experience of managing your own caseload and diary.
- An ability to balance student-facing support work with the necessary administrative responsibilities of the role.
