Location: Polaris House, Swindon, Wiltshire. (Hybrid working available - will need to be able to attend Swindon office and other UKRI sites as and when required)

The Wellbeing Manager will be an integral member of the UKRI Wellbeing Team, responsible for delivering the Wellbeing Plan. This aims to create a healthy workplace that supports the physical, mental, social, and financial wellbeing of our people, where they can flourish and reach their potential. This in turn will create a healthier and more resilient workforce, who can deliver UKRI priorities and contribute to UKRI's strategic objective to create a world-class organisation.

The role is key to promoting the profile of the Wellbeing Team by providing a responsive and efficient service. Working closely with the Wellbeing Lead for UKRI and the Wellbeing Officer, the role holder will manage the delivery, promotion and evaluation of UKRI's wellbeing provision, including the Wellbeing Ambassador Network.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Wellbeing Framework and Programmes

  • Manage the promotion and maintenance of all four pillars of wellbeing (physical, mental, social, and financial) through a suite of wellbeing activities in line with the Wellbeing Plan.
  • Manage the Wellbeing Ambassador Network to ensure awareness and access to wellbeing across UKRI.
  • Create training and manage a support programme of work for Wellbeing Allies and to build Line Manager capability in wellbeing.
  • Manage and build recognition of the Wellbeing brand through interactive and innovative internal communications.

Wellbeing Advice and Delivery

  • Act as the wellbeing expert and internal consultant to all areas of UKRI to ensure consistency and effectiveness.
  • Work closely and engage with a variety of internal stakeholders to aid collaboration, including HR, Occupational Health, EAP, Health and Safety, Reward and Benefits, Internal Communications and UKRI staff networks.
  • Participate in relevant working groups/projects, services, and initiatives to provide wellbeing expertise.
  • Represent UKRI Wellbeing and attend events across UKRI and externally as required to promote existing and new developments.

Assessment and Evaluation

  • Ensure the current wellbeing provision is effectively utilised and build in improvements through reviewing data and evaluation.
  • Provide management reports on wellbeing to build an understanding of wellbeing at UKRI, making recommendations where appropriate.
  • Establish and implement appropriate monitoring of Wellbeing Ambassador Network activity and intervention, to measure utilisation of support but also to safeguard Wellbeing Allies.

Leadership and Management

  • Management and development of the Wellbeing Officer.
  • Manage and develop the Wellbeing Ambassador Network, to ensure a consistent and high performing wellbeing provision across UKRI.
  • Relationship management of the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) provider, including measurement of service utilisation and ensuring management information is appropriate.
  • Manage resources for wellbeing and monitor budget to ensure high levels of service are provided and value for money is achieved.
  • Manage the procurement of wellbeing suppliers when appropriate e.g. EAP

Essential:

  • Demonstrated experience of workplace wellbeing at a specialist level, with a proven record of managing successful organisational wellbeing programmes as well as monitoring and evaluating their effectiveness (S & I).
  • Experience of managing procurement for wellbeing suppliers, ideally including EAP/OH provider, and of managing supplier relationships and contracts (S & I).
  • Experience of managing a team and/or direct line management with ability to build and sustain positive and productive working relationships (S & I).
  • Strong oral communication and written skills, with direct experience of stakeholder management and designing, delivering, and facilitating training, workshops or events (S & I).
  • Proven ability to manage projects to time and to budget (S & I).
  • Analytical skills - using data, developing insights and identifying trends to inform evidence-based decisions and reports (S & I).
  • Self-starter and motivated individual, with flexibility to cope with the varying demands of the role, and proven ability to contribute to the team as a flexible, collaborative team player (I).

Desirable:

  • University degree in HR, CIPD membership or equivalent relevant professional experience or qualifications.
  • Recognised up to date Mental Health First Aider (MHFA) qualification .
