JOB PURPOSE

BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons.

The Weapon Release Technician works in a highly challenging yet equally rewarding environment, playing a key role in generating aircraft for the RSAF customer. The role is therefore extremely high profile and involves interfacing with other departments and organisation such as SMSCMC, Workshops, Quality, Product Safety, MODSAP etc.

Work involves a balance between leading the resolution of complex Engineering issues and responsibility for team management including oversight of applicable rules and regulations. Activities as a consequence vary on a day-to-day basis.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Responsible for the rectification of Tornado aircraft components assigned to the by the relevant Weapons Supervisor, such as aircraft role equipment including (Aircraft Pylons, CBRLS, Chaff/Flare, Fire Bottle cartridges and Aircraft guns).
  • Ensures work is carried out in accordance with the standards and procedures detailed within the MOE.
  • The efficient day to day support in the running of the TSS Weapons Release Shop including;
  • Maintaining good engineering practice and compliance with RSAF Technical Orders in all aspects of the TSS Weapons Release Shop.
  • Prepare items for calibration within their work area.
  • Diagnose Weapons Release malfunction through use of appropriate test equipment and technical publications.
  • Maintain servicing records for all items of dedicated Weapons Release equipment.
  • Carry out TCTO’s and Special inspections when directed.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of Aircraft operating areas.
  • Ensure compliance with tool control processes and procedures.
  • Be able to provide functional guidance to the SNTTP programs in respect of any engineering issues that may arise.
  • Act as MIIP on any Fuel System Equipment technical related issues.
  • Monitor all supply issues affecting the TSS Weapons Release Shop.

RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION

  • Relevant type training (Q Course) and specific training if required.
  • Have extensive proven post qualification practical maintenance experience within operational flying aircraft environment supported by formal recorded workplace applied related training OR extensive experience on same aircraft type OR successful completion of BAESSA apprenticeship programme (SNTTP/ TSNTTP).
  • Demonstrate knowledge / understanding of aircraft maintenance and engineering.
  • Understanding and application of human factors, error management, health & safety and proactive hazard analysis, appropriate to the role.
  • Relevant equipment specific training.
  • Be fully conversant with the interpretation of technical diagrams and documentation.
  • Post holder must be HF trained.
  • Hold a current driving license.

  • Setting high standards for good housekeeping practices in the work area and ensuring the FOD prevention program is maintained to the highest standard.
