Job overview

EPUT is looking to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced waste management professional to manage all waste streams across our wide and varied estate.

This is a relatively new post to our Trust and an ideal opportunity for an ambitious candidate to promote the importance of waste management and the ever changing legislation to ensure statutory compliance.

Reporting to the Head of Facilities, this role will require extensive travel across the estate so candidates must consider this when applying.

Main duties of the job

Main duties will be
• Responsible for all aspects of Waste Management & Procurement.
• Review current contract costs and service delivery to ensure waste budget is managed.
• Lead on professional, technical advice and compliance to waste related legislation.
• Provide specialist and technical advice and training to colleagues relating to waste management, net zero carbon and sustainable.
• Responsible for the development and delivery of the Trusts waste policies.
• To undertake statutory waste management compliance audits ad complete stator declarations.
• Undertake site audits and reviews in relation to usage and develop a multidisciplinary action-plan, monitor and report on improvements.
• Lead on waste management initiatives and new technologies for implementation across the Trust, engage key stakeholders at all levels in the organisation.
• Ownership of the development of Business Cases and funding applications in waste recovery/recycling/upcycling/circular economy
• Ownership of annual key performance indicators in relation to within the Trust and as part of National Programmes.
• Lead as Key stakeholder in new developments.
• Provide complex and technical written reports and detailed feedback contributing to the review for performance monitoring of external contracts and internal service provision.
• Contribute to the Trusts green plan

Our EPUT NHS staff bank is an entity managed by the trust that hires clinical and non-clinical healthcare professionals to take on shifts at our trust hospitals and community settings. Here at EPUT we maintain our own bank of specialist staff to ensure that we are able offer safe and effective care at all times.

All our permanent staff are automatically enrolled onto the staff bank however this does not mean you have to work any additional shifts, but the option is there for you if you wish.

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Environmental/Waste Management

  • Master's Degree or equivalent experience in Environmental/Waste Management

EXPERIENCE

Essential criteria

  • Experience in the day-to-day management of waste

Desirable criteria

  • Experience/knowledge of working in a health service environment.
