Job Description

Heathrow Airport is seeking a visionary Waste Manager to front our waste and recycling contracts against the waste budget Circa £5m pa. This pivotal role is not just a job; it's a call to action for those passionate about environmental stewardship and sustainable development to achieve Heathrow's 2.0 sustainability targets.

Responsibilities

• Lead the charge in reducing waste and enhancing recycling performance across Heathrow.
• Explore and implement future technologies to align with the delivery of Heathrow 2.0 Objectives, fostering a zero-waste, circular economy.
• Steer and refine a substantial Waste/Recycling contract, hitting all marks for safety, quality, and performance.
• Managing other contracts as required which include our landscaping contract and MITIE waste team.
• Craft and execute a strategic waste and recycling plan, building strong relationships with stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
• Drive continuous improvement in waste management, aiming for a zero waste outcome by 2030
• Uphold legal compliance and manage resources to propel Heathrow towards our environmental aspirations.
• Collaborate with stakeholders at every level, influencing without the need for direct reports.

Qualifications

• A proven track record in contract management and driving business enhancements in multifaceted environments.
• A visionary outlook, ready to pursue excellence and spearhead initiatives.
• Experience in leading improvements and setting benchmarks in utilities and contract management.
• Strong collaborative and persuasive abilities, capable of working harmoniously and effectively influencing others.
• Knowledge of Heathrow airport would be an additional advantage.

Working Location

Our agile approach offers the opportunity to combine home working with meetings, events and training at the airport. All roles involve some on-site working each week, so you'll need to be based in the UK and within a commutable distance to Heathrow.
