Job Description
Wincanton for Sainsbury's at our Thameside depot in London are looking for a Warehouse Shift Manager to join the team. Reporting to the Depot Operations Manager, the Shift Manager leads a team of Warehouse Team Managers, ensuring safe operational performance while meeting all key performance indicators to exceed customer expectations.
We receive, pick and load store orders accurately, safely and in a timely manner to meet the outbound loading schedule, across our four grocery chambers (ambient, frozen, chill and produce). We are looking for candidates with experience of a multi-temperature, food environment.
Any 5 days from 7, shift times are rotating earlies and lates 06:00 -14:00 and 14:00-22:00
How will you contribute?
- Proactively motivate and lead a Team of Managers to achieve planned targets and ensure deadlines are met
- Support, monitor, report on and deliver the operational daily, weekly, monthly & quarterly KPI's
- Ensure a proactive approach to Health & Safety
- Provide a responsive & professional service to customers and colleagues
- Manage performance, timekeeping, attendance, overtime and sickness levels of individual colleagues and action as per procedures
- Monitor and manage agreed budgets
- Managing customer expectations, ensuring all escalations are dealt with to a high standard and in a timely manner
- Alongside the other Shift Managers, manage and lead the onsite Union relationship and meetings
What will you bring?
- Strong People Management skills including managing people processes such as disciplinary / grievance etc
- Management or supervisory experience in a multi temperature, food or grocery environment
- Strong operational knowledge / background
- Experience of managing customer relationship and expectations
- Proven experience of leading and motivate teams to achieve results in a unionised environment
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills
- Possess a positive attitude and the ability to suggest methods of improvement and be actively involved in improvement techniques
