Warehouse Manager - Newcastle under Lyme

£53,368 + Bonus

Working Monday to Friday 8am-5pm

Due to expansion of our Boughey Distribution new site in Lymedale, Newcastle under Lyme we are seeking an Experienced Warehouse Manager reporting into Warehouse Operations Director.

You will be expected to drive through results by managing the day-to-day activities of team members across varying shift patterns and to ensure the operation of the site runs seamlessly and in the most cost effective, safe, and quality compliant way to service the site resulting in a high performing operation.

You will have responsibility in leading and coordinating all inbound and outbound activities of a busy Warehouse environment, ensuring that targets are achieved, and customer requirements are met.

Leading a team and implement production, productivity, training, quality and customer service standards and achieve the appropriate level of volume within time limits. Ensure that the daily operations meet and exceed daily performance expectations, utilise and manage the MHE efficiently, making sure budgetary targets and Health & Safety and environmental objectives are met.

Evaluating performance to make sure employees are working in-line with best practice and Company methodology and identifying any training or development needs.

Upholding of the Company's policies and procedures and dealing with any employee transactional issues as required (performance improvement plans, absence, investigation & disciplinary and grievance).

Key Responsibilities:

  • To manage and guide the full site team to achieve the warehouse targets and KPIs set in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Compliant to the Company's Health & Safety Policy, taking responsibility for the Health, Safety, environmental and welfare of yourself and others on your site.
  • Liaise with relevant internal stakeholders to maintain the highest standards with due regard to Customer requirements and in line with HACCP, BRCGS and any other internal or external legislation / audits.
  • Full responsibility for making sure the site and your team achieve high levels of customer satisfaction through excellence in receiving, despatching, and assuring quality goods - promoting SAP system processes and handling lack of compliance appropriately.
  • Implement, measure, and report the effectiveness of warehousing activities and employee's performance for the site.
  • Utilise employee productivity and performance data to manage performance, accordingly, identifying opportunities for reward and recognition for high performers to the Warehouse General Manager.
  • To live and breathe the company values and promote associated behaviours within the warehouse team in line with company performance development structures.
  • Full responsibility for organising and maintaining inventory and storage areas, ensure shipments and inventory transaction accuracy.
  • Determine the appropriate staffing levels based on planned workload and assign resource appropriately.
  • Maintain all record keeping and document necessary information so briefs are clear for all your leadership team, also making sure clear handovers to the management on the following shifts.
  • Pro-actively identify improvement opportunities liaising with H&S, Quality & ESG, Continuous Improvement and other Warehouse Managers.
  • Full responsibility for ensuring the site comply with all Health & Safety requirements and to inform the Warehouse General Manager if any improvements need to be made.
  • Making sure your team maintain stock integrity through goods in checking, goods out checking and a scheduled perpetual inventory program.
  • To deal with any discrepancies found ensuring corrective action is taken and if necessary, report immediately to the Warehouse General Manager.
  • Create an atmosphere in which employees are encouraged to volunteer ideas and are engaged in what the company needs to achieve.
  • To train and develop your leadership team in being able to support with investigations, disciplinary hearings, and absence & attendance meetings as required and deal with any employee relation issues as per the Company policies and procedures. Taking responsibility at key levels within these procedures in order to protect the Company and uphold best practice for all employees.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Previous experience of working as a Site Warehouse Manager within a fast-paced FMCG or food manufacturing setting.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) with attention to detail, and to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work well as part of a wider management team and manage colleagues at different levels as well as to work under own initiative when required.
  • Develop and maintain a culture of employee engagement / involvement, as well as encouraging sound contributions and coaching employees in all aspects of the role.
  • Engage cross functionally to ensure all relevant parties are involved and kept updated and handovers are correctly done.
  • Proven experience of leading a busy site in all warehousing and logistical requirements and exceptional man management and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to direct and coordinate operations with strong organisational and time management skills, to be self-driven and highly motivated.
  • Knowledge and experience of health and safety, preferably IOSH standard.
  • Proactive with an eye for problem solving and continuous improvement. (LEAN, KAIZEN or Six Sigma experience desired but not essential)
  • Knowledge and experience of using end to end Warehouse Management systems (SAP, Microlise, Contrado, Capture IT - desired but not essential)
  • Excellent PC skills and conversant with all Microsoft packages (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
  • Effective planning and the ability to give out clear instructions or objectives in line with Company PDP process.
  • Good understanding of the operational and supply chain processes.
  • Time Management skills, the ability to prioritise workload as well as multitask and work to tight deadlines
