Are you an enthusiastic and motivated midwife looking to take the next step in your career? Join our dynamic Private Midwifery team at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust Hospital as the Ward Manager for Clayton Ward, a permanent role offering 37.5 hours per week.
About the Role
As the Ward Manager and Team Lead, you'll oversee a dedicated team of midwives and MSWs, balancing 7.5 hours of management duties with hands-on clinical work. With no on-call requirements, you'll focus on ensuring a high standard of care for our private patients.

We need a dynamic midwife with leadership experience and a passion for excellence. You should have a background in roster and staff management and be ready to drive service improvements and foster a collaborative work environment. Key responsibilities include:
- Roster, Sickness and People management
- Handling complaints and datix investigations
- Daily ward management and audits
- Leading Quality Improvement projects
- Excellent Communication and planning skills
Main duties of the job
- Provide high quality, effective midwifery care that is evidence based and woman centred and helps to promote a positive working environment.
- To manage a team of midwives whilst working closely with other multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure safety outcomes and positive patient experiences are achieved.
- The post holder is also expected to be an expert clinical midwife who will give advice and guidance on the midwifery care of women and pregnant people, babies and their families
- The post holder will provide clinical and managerial leadership for the team on Clayton ward.
- To lead and coordinate midwives to provide midwifery care for private and amenity patients on the ward
- To lead and coordinate the day to day running of Clayton Ward including multidisciplinary ward rounds
- To work collaboratively with the Matrons to provide and develop high quality, safe and effective service

Education/ qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Midwife
- Evidence of continuing post registration education and development.
- Registered Educated to degree level in relevant subject area
Desirable criteria
- Has attained or is working towards a management qualification
- Master's degree in a relevant subject area or working towards this
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant post registration experience >3years
- Experience in a range of settings including labour ward
- Experience in change management
Desirable criteria
- Project management experience
Skills/knowledge/ abilities
Essential criteria
- Clinically competent.
- Proven experience in supervision of trained staff
- IT skills
- Excellent communication skills
Desirable criteria
- Quality improvement methodologies
