Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and adaptable midwife to join our dynamic and friendly team here at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust - Queen Charlotte's & Chelsea Hospital. You will be based and in charge of the antenatal clinic Maternity Day Assessment Unit and maternity helpline . You will work closely with the Birmingham Symptom Specific Obstetric system ( BSOTs) team leader and will cover each others workload . You will also be responsible for coordinating the activities hospital outpatient team and supporting junior staff .We have exciting plans for maternity outpatients and we invite you to become a part of this dynamic team.

Main duties of the job

  • You will maintain a high standard of team working and demonstrate an understanding of maintaining our key performance indicators , day assessment workload and supporting the clinical band 7 for BSOTs
  • Work with the Outpatients Manager to implement national and local guidelines/protocols. You will also have the opportunity to be part of the quality improvement project for Birmingham Symptom Specific Obstetric Triage System (BSOTS)
  • Develop and evaluate midwifery performance and clinical outcomes to improve standards of patient care. Prioritising the birthing persons' experience at the core of service delivery
  • The postholder will show leadership by working clinically, allocation of workload, skill mix, staffing levels and overview of activity
  • Maintain professional conduct in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and Midwives Code of Practice and Trust.

Education/ qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Registered Midwife
  • Teaching Qualification (Standards for Student Supervision and Assessment) or equivalent experience.
  • Graduate (degree/diploma in Midwifery) with specialist expertise across a range of midwifery procedures

Desirable criteria

  • Management qualification or equivalent experience

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Significant experience at Band 6 in a relevant clinical setting
  • Experience of leading and developing a team
  • Knowledge of quality, standard setting, benchmarking and audit

Desirable criteria

  • Experience at Band 7 as a team leader

Skills/knowledge/ abilities

  • Organisation, administrative and management skills
