Job overview

The Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust Outpatient Department facilitates & supports a wide range of Gynaecology outpatient services, both face to face and remote. We are looking for an experienced Charge Nurse to join our Broomfield team to lead in the day-to-day running of the department & provide support to all services provided within it following induction & ongoing support.

You will use your experience to develop and maintain good departmental management and act as a positive role model, showing clear concise and strong leadership. You will support both qualified and unqualified staff, whilst enhancing and ensuring positive experience, and patient safety at all times.

Main duties of the job

If successful, you will be expected to manage the Gynaecology outpatient services and staff, some of the duties of this job include:

  • Ensure appropriate communication mechanisms are in place and promote and maintain effective communication within the multidisciplinary team and between other colleagues, patients, relatives.
  • Provides strong, clear and consistent leadership to the Gynaecology Outpatient team acting as a positive role model exemplifying professional attitude and behaviours.
  • Provide clinical expertise, specialist advice and support to women across the Gynaecological Nursing services, ensuring that the provision of evidence-based nursing care is maintained
  • Ensure a holistic approach to care that is current, effective and research based is afforded to every patient, in accordance with Trust policies and procedures, and in collaboration with all other disciplines.
  • Identify and undertake initiatives and innovation to improve quality of patient care, develop the service and meet the requirements of current standards/legislation
  • Support and participate in all aspects of Governance
  • Motivates the team to establish a positive learning environment and ensures that each member of the team is valued and developed to their full potential within the Outpatient competency framework.
