Job overview

We are currently looking to recruit a Full Time Substantive Band 7 Ward Manager for our Endocrinology Ward at St Marys Hospital. This is an opportunity for anyone who is looking to expand their leadership skills and clinical experience working across Endocrinology setting. The post holder will be responsible for leading the staff and working in close collaboration with the Emergency Department and the teams across the Acute Admission Areas and Specialist medicine.

This is an ideal opportunity for a motivated nursing leader with a high level of clinical competence who is looking to develop their management and leadership skills. We are a friendly team who offer a caring and supportive environment in which you can develop further.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide high quality, effective, individualised care to all patients by assessing care needs and developing, implementing and evaluating them without supervision
  • Manages the full nursing team; to include annual appraisal, staffing rotas, performance and sickness management, recruitment and selection and the supervision of students
  • Assists in the management of the ward or department budget
  • Monitor standards of nursing care and take appropriate action to maintain and improve them
  • Assists in continued monitoring of patient experience and harm free care
  • To respond to patients, relatives and carers concerns and complaints as they arise and take remedial action as required
