Overview

The Senior Marketing Manager for Walkers Sharing & Seasonal role will lead and deliver the growth plans for Walkers' sharing across Walkers core sharing formats, Sensations and Walkers Max with a 3+ year horizon. They will lead our thinking and execution for football across UCL and national games where possible, working closely with the 'Power of one' team to maximise portfolio execution. They will also seek to identify and grow sharing across other key seasonal moments like Christmas. They will be responsibility for portfolio management, renovation, innovation and creative development (also leveraging and tailoring work from Global Lays for football). The role will work closely with Insights to deliver most relevant and compelling portfolio to understand the role each of the brands play in growing penetration. They will work with: Sales to build the most compelling plans in store; Creative agencies & TCP to deliver effective media & creative campaigns; Supply to optimise service & futureproof our manufacturing capability and NRM teams to maximise effectiveness of portfolio. The SMM will need to deliver plans that increased penetration, net revenue growth, and SOM while making optimal use of the A&M resources. The role will report to the Senior Marketing Director - Walkers.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership of Sharing strategy across Walkers core Sharing, Sensations & Walkers Max with the aim of driving growth across key events and seasons namely: football, summer & Christmas.
  • In partnership with Senior Director Walkers, sets the strategy for 3+ years ahead understanding the role of the different brands can play in building recruitment across the sharing portfolio.
  • Leads the football strategy across UCL and where possible national games - working with both 'Power of one' and Global to build bigger execution plans year-on-year.
  • Development and delivery of strong in year calendar plan, across renovation, innovation & activation.
  • Lead and coach the team to deliver strong execution plans to achieve the in-year commercial plan.
  • Raise the bar on creative through high levels of collaboration with internal & external agency partners.
  • Partner with the breakthrough innovation & R&D teams to develop a strong innovation pipeline.
  • Build a high performing & engaged team - supporting x1 direct report with personal development.
  • Be the expert on performance of the portfolio and taking timely intervention where required.
  • Engage the sales team, including sales conference & brand-sells.

Qualifications

  • In depth brand marketing experience gained in consumer business, preferably within FMCG / CPG.
  • Strong functional Marketing experience, managing complex portfolio & large scale campaigns.
  • Strong project management skills, evidenced through key cross-functional projects.
  • Strong capability in understanding consumer insight & generating ideas.
  • Experience in developing strong partnerships with multiple stakeholders frequently with competing priorities.
  • Experience in developing and launching successful innovations.

Key Skills Required:

Functional:

  • Extensive experience in complex, multi-stakeholder organization - but with clear accountability for portfolio growth.
  • Strong Strategic Thinking - developing strategy through consumer data sources to identify opportunities for the business - eg Portfolio architecture development, demand spaces mapping etc.
  • High level of commercial acumen, and experience engaging with sales teams at all levels.
  • Leading team to create plans from strategy that can be executed in market.
  • Interpreting consumer insights to develop hypotheses to grow business.
  • Leading and inspiring internal teams.
  • Analytical thinking and numerical analysis to identifying trends and patterns in multiple sources of data/information.
  • Willingness to operate at strategic level but also personally 'get stuck in'.

Leadership:

  • Strong Leadership experience of managing direct reports.
  • Impacting and influencing senior management with plans and recommendations - turning complex business cases into easy to digest sound bites / core messages to enable swift buy in of senior management.
  • Excellent collaboration & influencing skills that can navigate a cross-functional matrix - ability to lead and influence cross functional project teams.
  • Confident and comfortable with data and analytics, and experience working closely with insights teams.
  • Strong decision making and sound judgement.
  • Team player: ability to work across levels, markets, global and cross function teams.
  • Tenacious and resilient: ability to stay focused on project and tackle obstacles to deliver business results.
  • Strong evidence of ability to set the agenda, specifically: balancing competing priorities.
