Volunteers - London Walk of Hope - Saturday 27th September

This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.

CALLING VOLUNTEERS - WALK OF HOPE 2025

We're looking for amazing volunteers to help us make this year's London Walk of Hope a success. This year our walk will be on Saturday, 27th September 2025 in Brockwell Park, South London (SE24 0NG).

We're expecting around 400 people to come together in memory of loved ones lost to brain tumours or in support of those still fighting this devastating disease. To make sure the day runs smoothly, we need around 50 volunteers to help us deliver a successful event.

Whether you can give a full day or just a couple of hours, we'd love to have you on board. Every bit of help is hugely appreciated.

VOLUNTEER ROLES WE NEED COVERED:

Setup Crew - 8am Start

The set up includes:
• Putting up gazebos
• Setting up the merch table, registration desk and memorial wall
• Welcoming first aiders, traders, etc.
• Putting up route markers and other signage
• Making sure the venue is ready before supporters arrive

It's a lot of hands-on work, so we really need people who are happy to get stuck in.

Registration

A very important role which gets very busy when people start arriving, so we need people who are:
• Confident using a tablet
• Good with names and spelling
• Work well in busy and pressured situations

You'll be helping check people in, point them to t-shirts if they don't have one, and signpost if supporters have any questions.

Raffle Sellers -

Working in pairs, to walk around with:
• Buckets and contactless payment devices
• Raffle ticket books and prize lists

You'll be chatting with people and selling tickets in the lead-up to the walk. The draw will happen just before we set off. This is a role that could also be taken on by a child if they'd like to volunteer alongside a parent or older sibling.

Merchandise Table -

Our merchandise went down really well last year, and we want to be more prepared this time. We would love some help run the table, talk to supporters and upsell our items.

Route Marshals -

We have 14 marshal stations along the walk route - each one should have 2 volunteers, so no one's left standing alone, plus 2 marshals that stay in the event village (with a member of staff).

Your job will be to:
• Point people in the right direction and ensure we don't obstruct other park visitors
• Be there in case anyone needs help
• Keep an eye on things and just be a visible presence

It would also be great to have two people at base camp to help if anyone gets lost or needs support, and to keep an eye on belongings. Volunteers who are helping with set-up and other tasks in the morning can then switch to being route marshals once we set off on the walk. We also have a contingency plan in place so that, if we don't have enough volunteers, some of the marshal points can be replaced with clear signage.

Medal distribution and Breakdown Crew - 2-4pm - afternoon

We'll need help handing out medals to supporters as they complete the walk, as well as taking everything down, packing up, collecting signage and branding along the route, bagging rubbish, and making sure we leave the park looking spotless.

If you're interested in volunteering, please complete your details by clicking the Apply for this Job button and we will be in touch to discuss your role further.

Thank you so much - we couldn't do this without you
