Smart Works Newcastle - Vinted Volunteer

About Smart Works Newcastle

Smart Works Newcastle is a North East based charity that exists to empower unemployed women into work through the provision of high quality interview clothing and one to one interview coaching.

Last year, Smart Works Newcastle helped 700 women into employment and we hope to increase this to 1000 women in 2025.

About the opportunity

As a charity, Smart Works sells clothing as part of its fundraising efforts. Our clothing is generously donated from the public, corporate organisations and our retail partners such as END. Clothing, Barbour, Whistles, Hobbs and many more. Anything that is not interview or work appropriate is sold at our in-person pop-up events or online via Vinted.

Smart Works Newcastle is looking for volunteers to oversee and manage their vinted online selling page.

The time commitment is two half-days per month with the scope to volunteer more frequently should you wish. Ideally this would be on either a Friday or a Monday, but this can be flexible.

Tasks would include:

  • Photographing and listing items on our Smart Works Newcastle vinted page.
  • Taking care to note any faults, imperfections or unique selling points of each item.
  • Reply to messages on Vinted and accept/decline offers.
  • Once items have been sold, package and post these items at local drop off points.
  • Organise and maintain the 'vinted corner' of the stock room, ensuring anything that is listed is easily accessible for posting.

Desirable skills and knowledge:

  • Good attention to detail
  • An awareness of fashion brands
  • Knowledge of online selling via Vinted
  • A passion for the Smart Works Mission and using fashion as a force for good.

Benefits of Volunteering

  • Contribute towards the fundraising target for Smart Works Newcastle where all funds go directly towards running our service. Therefore, you will directly impact the life of unemployed women in the North East.
  • Join our monthly virtual Volunteers Forum to meet individuals across the charity, gain training opportunities and learn new skills.

Apply with your CV by 31st January 2025. Successful candidates will be invited to an open evening at the centre in February to meet the team and learn more about the service.
