Volunteer Services Officer
This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.
Job Description
Marie Curie is the UK's leading end-of-life charity. We are the largest non-NHS provider of end-of-life care in the UK, the only provider across all 4 nations, delivering community nursing and hospice care across the country, while providing information and support on all aspects of dying, death, and bereavement. Our leading research pushes the boundaries of what we know about good end-of-life, and our campaigns fight for a world where everyone gets to have the best possible quality of life while living with an illness they're likely to die from.
The care and support we provide is highly valued by the people we care for and their loved ones, but at present we are only reaching around 10% of dying people at the end of life. Right now, one in four people in the UK with a terminal illness, do not get the care or support they deserve at the end of their lives.
This is an exciting opportunity to be an integral part of the launch of a new community companion service and we are recruiting a Volunteer Services Officer for our team based in Brighton and Hove. This is a home working role but will require flexibility to visit and work with local services, GP's, and volunteering services across the area.
Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday - Friday
Contract: until March 2026
The Volunteer Services Officer will support the development and delivery of place-based operational plans, fostering strong relationships with communities and local organisation to enhance volunteer-led services. They will oversee service delivery, including referral management, assessments, and caseload reviews, ensuring services effectively meet community needs. This role involves collaborating with the Talent Acquisition and Onboarding teams to recruit and support volunteers while delivering essential training and development programs.
The officer will ensure adherence to quality assurance standards, maintain accurate service records, and implement evaluation methods to measure service impact. The officer will also optimise resource use and ensure all operational activities are accurately recorded and reported in line with service requirements. Additionally, they will uphold Marie Curie policies, promote safeguarding, and ensure a safe, inclusive environment for clients, volunteers, and staff.
