Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do at Marie Curie. We're currently seeking compassionate and committed individuals on weekends and bank holidays to support the day-to-day running of our Glasgow hospice and help create a warm, welcoming environment for patients and their families.
What You'll Be Doing
As a hospice volunteer, you'll play a vital role in ensuring smooth operations and providing comfort to those in our care. Your tasks may include:
- General administration: filing, photocopying, collating and sorting documents.
- Using computer programmes such as Microsoft Office to complete tasks.
- Monitoring and maintaining stationery supplies.
- Greeting visitors and patients with warmth and professionalism.
- Receiving deliveries and notifying relevant staff.
- Answering phone calls politely and passing on messages.
- Respecting confidentiality around patient details and hospice records.
- Escorting visitors around the hospice.
- Supporting communication between families and staff.
- Assisting with drinks, food, and transport arrangements for patients.
- Helping with other related tasks as needed.
What We're Looking For
We welcome volunteers who bring:
- Friendly, confident people skills.
- Good computer literacy, including Word, Excel and databases.
- Strong communication and organisational abilities.
- A clear and courteous telephone manner.
- Solid literacy and numeracy.
- A commitment to high standards and excellent service.
- Reliability and responsibility.
- An understanding of confidentiality.
- Empathy and sensitivity to the needs of those affected by end-of-life care.
