Shannon Trust Volunteer Network - Community Reading Coach, Hertfordshire

Do you want to join an organisation committed to addressing low literacy and numeracy?

Volunteers are essential to Shannon Trust and bring their energy, ideas and skills to train mentors in prisons, support learners in the community and enhance our business support team.

We are looking for a volunteer to provide one-to-one reading support to learners in the community.

Shannon Trust's vision is of a future where everyone can experience the positive impact of learning. As a community reading coach your role will be at the heart of our organisation as you support our learners in the community. This will include providing one-to-one support to learners to help them to improve their reading through the delivery of Turning Pages Digital sessions, as well as supporting the development of our programme within partner services. You may be volunteering one-to-one with learners, or as part of a small team with other volunteers/ staff.

Volunteer benefits include: induction training and ongoing training, support and development in the role, flexible working, recognition for your contribution and reimbursement of expenses where applicable.

The biggest benefit though is our culture - our people really want to be a part of the organisation.

We welcome volunteer applications from people with lived experience of the criminal justice system and do not routinely ask for details of any criminal convictions.
