Job Description

Volunteer Activities Coordinator - Lady's Activity Group, Bradford Hospice

Availability: Fridays, 12:30-14:30

We're looking for a friendly and supportive volunteer to help run our Lady's Activity sessions - a welcoming space where females affected by terminal illness, carers, and widowers can connect, chat, and take part in meaningful activities. These sessions are a valued part of the support we offer, and wouldn't be possible without our amazing volunteers.

Please note:
Due to the nature of the group and the environment, we are currently seeking female volunteers only. This helps us meet specific service user needs and provide appropriate support. We welcome interest from all individuals and remain committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion across all our volunteer opportunities.

What you'll be doing:

  • Create a warm, welcoming space for group activities
  • Chat with patients, carers, and widowers
  • Plan and lead engaging sessions for our Lady's Activity Group
  • Promote the Lady's Activity Group within the hospice and local community
  • Identify any equipment or materials needed and liaise with your volunteer manager
  • Support with other related tasks as needed

Why you'd be a great fit:

  • Friendly and great people skills
  • Organised and confident working independently
  • Understanding of the needs of those affected by terminal illness
  • Creative and resourceful with limited materials
  • Committed to providing a high-quality experience
  • Team player with a flexible attitude
  • Respectful of confidentiality and sensitive situations

What you'll gain from us:

  • A chance to make a real difference in a supportive environment
  • Full induction, training, and ongoing support
  • Reimbursement of agreed out-of-pocket expenses
  • Access to discounts on shopping, travel, entertainment & more
  • Marie Curie Shop Loyalty Card

What we ask from you:

  • Provide 2 non-family references
  • Submit a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Application
  • Complete an induction and any training related to the role
