Main duties
Support Virtual Finance Director and Senior Manager in managing the Virtual Finance service provided to clients, helping to ensure an excellent service is provided efficiently and assisting with development and growth of the services offered
Day to day support of the operational delivery of our Virtual Finance reporting and compliance services
Support the Virtual Finance Senior Manager in managing the team with line management responsibilities as required
Become a software champion in the team proactively exploring new opportunities and ensure we are optimising our use of existing platforms
Help implement standardised outsourcing processes and procedures across the firm
Take responsibility for a portfolio of clients, ensuring a high-quality service is provided. Typically, this will involve overseeing the monthly bookkeeping, the month end process, preparation of VAT returns, and management reporting. This may require a hands-on approach depending on the client and nature of services being provided.
Ensure insightful analysis is provided as part of the management reporting.
Help up skill current Virtual Finance team to prepare statutory accounts for their clients on software such as Silverfin, CCH and ProAudit, ensuring statutory accounts are prepared both accurately and timely, acting as the technical lead for reporting queries. This may include working closely with the Audit & Accounts team
Delivery of ad hoc project work for clients. This could relate to budgeting and forecasting, system and process reviews or any other modelling or review required
Review VAT returns prepared by the team with support as necessary from the central VAT team
Help the team's training and development needs are met, leading workshops and internal training sessions as appropriate.
Develop relationships with clients and partners and look for apps software opportunities to help support clients
Attend meetings with potential clients to talk through the services we can provide
Review of WIP and recoverability, raise fee notes
Qualifications/education required
Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA or ACA) ideally with experience from a similar role in practice
Experience Required
Good knowledge and experience of accounting software and applications (QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Dext, Autoentry etc)
Breadth of experience in managing a portfolio of statutory accounts compliance clients, particularly in respect of SMEs and reporting under FRS 102
Good experience of reviewing WIP, recoverability and raising fee notes
Particular aptitudes / skills required
Excellent excel skills
Excellent communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively both internally and externally, tailoring your style as appropriate
