This role will have the responsibility for the management of VAT transformation projects and initiatives in the UK&I group.

The successful candidate will collaborate with multiple commercial and finance departments, manage VAT transformation activity, support VAT arrangements with external customers and suppliers and deliver VAT advice to stakeholders in the wider commercial and finance departments in the business.

Reporting to the group's Indirect Tax Senior Manager, the individual will be a key part of the tax department.

Role overview:

As part of this role, you'll be responsible for:

  • Managing VAT transformation projects across the UK&I group
  • Identifying and managing VAT opportunities and risks across the group
  • Providing robust VAT advice to stakeholders in the wider business
  • Reviewing and advising on customer and supplier relationships from a VAT perspective
  • Coordinating and reviewing processes of internal finance personnel / departments to ensure VAT compliance
  • Responsible for VAT governance processes and their continuous improvement, including the provision of regular internal training
  • Implementation of appropriate measures in response to new legislation and practices
  • Involvement in wider tax change and governance projects
  • Support with other indirect tax matters on an ad-hoc basis

You will need:

  • A strong technical VAT background
  • Commercial acumen and VAT advisory experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • In-house VAT experience (preferably in the retail sector)
  • Professional tax or accounting qualification
