Let's talk about the role...

As a VAT Assistant Manager, you'll be fully immersed with our experienced indirect tax department team and responsible for providing expert VAT advice to internal teams across multiple offices and our clients. Life will be fast paced, engaging, creative and rewarding.

Based out of one of our offices (we're open to location!), this advisory-focused role is perfect for a proactive and ambitious person that is looking to challenge themselves, develop and progress within a forward-thinking and fast-paced firm. With a strong background in VAT legislation and passion for delivering tailored VAT solutions, you'll:

• Provide expert VAT advisory services to clients across a wide range of industries, ensuring compliance with VAT regulations and identifying opportunities for tax efficiencies.
• Support internal teams by offering VAT advice on various matters and client-specific VAT queries.
• Advise clients on the VAT implications of complex real estate transactions, such as options to tax, TOGCs, and the Capital Goods Scheme.
• Liaise with external authorities, including HMRC, to resolve technical VAT issues for clients.
• Monitor and interpret changes in VAT legislation, case law, and HMRC guidance, advising clients and internal stakeholders on the potential impact.
• Provide practical VAT solutions and recommendations to help clients streamline processes, improve VAT compliance, and mitigate risks.
• Assist with the delivery of VAT training to internal teams, enhancing their understanding of VAT issues and best practices.
• Build strong, lasting relationships with key internal stakeholders and clients, becoming a trusted advisor for all VAT-related matters.
• Prepare VAT advisory reports for clients, ensuring complex issues are communicated in a clear and actionable way.

Let's talk about you and your skills...

Hungry for a new challenge, you'll:

• Have strong knowledge of VAT legislation, case law, and VAT compliance requirements.
• Be based locally out of one of our offices across the Northwest, Midlands or Yorkshire.
• Have previous experience in VAT advisory roles, ideally within an accountancy practice or consultancy setting.
• Be an excellent communicator, with the ability to convey complex VAT matters to non-tax professionals.
• Have strong analytical skills and a proactive, solution-oriented approach.
• Have relevant qualifications (ATT, part-qualified CTA, or equivalent) are preferred but not essential.
• Be detail-oriented, adaptable, and able to work under pressure.
• Be client-focused with the ability to build relationships and provide high-quality service.
• Be a team player with the ability to collaborate across multiple offices.
