Knowledge Requirements

Essential criteria

  • Detailed understanding of project management methodology
  • First class written and verbal communication skills, to communicate with staff of all disciplines, grades and understanding
  • Able to give clear explanations and listen / understand complex information effectively
  • Excellent IT literacy (word-processing, spreadsheet, presentations, report writing)
  • Able to manage and deliver the programme / project in a calm and collected manner amid pressures of deadlines, work interruptions, conflicting priorities and competing opinions

Desirable criteria

  • Able to present complex information in an appropriate way to different audiences

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Degree qualification (or equivalent level of experience)

Desirable criteria

  • Masters qualification or equivalent experience in a Health Services, Programme and/or Project Management

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Track record of meeting strict deadlines
  • Previous practical involvement in project & programme management and supporting a programme manager within the NHS
  • Experience producing and updating project and programme plans using a Gantt chart
  • Familiarity with tracking benefits realisation
  • Experience of Working in an NHS Trust
  • Database management experience

Desirable criteria

  • Familiarity with risk management processes
  • Experience producing reports and papers for high level meetings

Skills & Abilities

Essential criteria

  • Highly developed and effective interpersonal skills
  • High level communication skills, both verbal and written with the ability to communicate complex information to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to priorities conflicting demands and delegate as appropriate
  • Ability to manage the development and implementation of electronic and manual Programme management systems.
  • Ability to solve complex problems through analysis
  • Effectively leading workshops
  • Ability to undertake complex analysis and benchmarking using multiple systems and programmes.

Desirable criteria

  • Ability to deal with situations which may require the application of tact and diplomacy, and that demonstrate a customer-focused, problem-solving approach.
