ABOUT THIS ROLE
This UKI Head of People is pivotal in shaping a high performance, values driven culture that supports business growth. You'll be a trusted partner to the UKI leadership team, driving organizational design, leadership capability, and employee engagement. As part of the broader global ghd HR organisation, you'll collaborate with global Centres of Expertise in Talent, Reward, and People Services enabling you to focus on strategic impact while leveraging best-in-class tools and support.
LOCATION
This role will be based in our London (Soho) office, and we offer a hybrid working pattern of 3 days in the office and 2 days WFH.
JOB ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic HR Leadership:
- Partner with UKI leadership to align people strategy with commercial goals
- Lead organizational design and workforce planning to support agility and growth
- Champion a culture of speed, simplicity, accountability, and intensity
- Coach UKI Leadership team members, elevating leadership capabilities
Culture & Engagement:
- Drive cultural initiatives that embed ghd's values and foster high engagement
- Own the communication and engagement strategy across the UKI team
- Leverage employee engagement and insights to shape impactful people plans
Talent & Capability:
- Lead succession planning and talent development for critical roles
- Partner with Talent COE to deliver performance management, leadership development, and learning programs
- Build manager capability through coaching, training, and upskilling initiatives
Operational Excellence:
- Ensure delivery of core HR processes across the employee lifecycle
- Collaborate with Reward COE to guide compensation decisions and benchmarking
- Maintain data integrity and insights through HR systems and reporting
- Lead people cost financial planning in collaboration with Finance, ensuring SG&A targets are met
Collaboration:
- Work across the ghd Group and Global people organization
- Build strong relationships across the broader Wella HR network, sharing best practices and leveraging shared services
- Represent ghd UKI in global HR forums, ensuring local needs are heard and supported
REQUIREMENTS
Experience & Qualifications:
- 8+ years in HR, including senior business partnering experience; ideally progressed to Head of HR level
- Experience in consumer-facing sectors such as retail or ecommerce
- Strong understanding of organizational design, talent strategy, and cultural transformation
Skills & Attributes:
- Commercially astute with a strategic mindset
- Exceptional communicator and relationship builder
- Highly organized, tech-savvy, and data-driven
- Emotionally intelligent, ethical, and values-led
Desirable:
- Experience in matrixed/global organizations
- Accreditation in personality profiling tools (e.g., Insights Discovery)
- CIPD Level 7 or equivalent
