The UK&I Finance Transactional Manager is responsible for leading and managing the UK&I Finance Transactional team with a clear focus on delivering UK finance transactional processing routines accurately and completely and with excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
Organisational Context
This role will be a hands-on role to lead the UK&I Finance Transactional team, who are responsible for processing the financial transactions for UK & ROI based RES companies.
The team's work includes processing: -
- Purchase Ledger >10,000 invoices per annum
- Processing Employee expenses
- Cash posting and bank reconciliations
- Sales invoicing, credit control
- Inter-company recharging of timesheets and expenses
- Use of external ERP systems including Business World and IFS
- Month end, quarter end and year end processing to agreed deadlines for Res Group
The role will involve supporting the team through a period of change, driving improvements to controls and procedures and ensuring the team is ready for the implementation of a new financial system planned for 2025.
Key Accountabilities
- Manage and support the UK&I Finance Transactional team, to develop team members and produce a high performing team in the new structure. Set and review key KPIs for the team
- Manage team workload to ensure transactions are processed in an efficient, accurate and timely manner in line with the new global P2P policy being rolled out in 2025
- Be hands on in reviewing payment runs and changes to supplier details, ensuring any discrepancies are followed up and payments made are appropriate
- Support in the testing of and implementation of the new ERP business system (IFS), including supporting the team when required
- Document business processes in the new IFS system, continuously improve the efficiency of operations and strengthen controls with respect to the transaction cycles
- Work closely with the newly established treasury team to ensure clear accountability for tasks and appropriate segregation of duties
- Support the team to run and investigate any discrepancies on the debtors and creditors listing and respond to ad-hoc queries across the business when required
- Manage the month end process for RES entities, ensuring the team are reconciling the bank accounts on a monthly basis, processing the registered invoice accrual and learning new processes in IFS
- Provide Tier 1 support to Business World users in these business areas and provide support under the new ERP being rolled out in 2025
Knowledge
- Broad knowledge of accounting is essential - including double entry book keeping, VAT, foreign currencies and accounting systems
- Knowledge of purchase ledger environments and associated processing routines
- Knowledge of accounts receivable environments and associated processing routines
- Understanding of the core functions of a finance shared services department
- Experienced in using Finance Systems
- Knowledge of Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) tax deductions
Skills
- Ability to effectively manage the day-to-day activities of a finance team
- Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities, 'can do' attitude
- Competent and efficient, demonstrating attention to detail and ability to deliver quality output (right first time) to deadline
- Ability to focus on continuous improvements, suggesting and delivering efficiencies to transactional processes
- Adaptable and able to be flexible in approach from time-to-time to meet the needs of the business
- Sound communication skills and the confidence and credibility to communicate clearly and professionally all levels (including externally with suppliers)
- Strong Microsoft Excel and PC literacy skills are essential
Experience
- Experience of working in a finance team in a transactional capacity is essential
- Experience of managing a team
- Super-user capability in ERP software is essential
Qualifications
- Recognised accountancy qualifications are desirable (e.g. AAT)
