Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The Industry Operations Manager will be responsible for the oversight and business development of the UKCRF Network Commercial strategy. The post holder will build and establish excellent working relationships with Life Sciences Industry partners, and also individual CRF Leaders, acting as a senior point of contact for new and existing business and helping to refine the capacity and capability database.

Qualifications & Education

Essential criteria

  • University Master's degree or equivalent in professional Life Sciences/commercial contract experience

Desirable criteria

  • Clinical Research Governance training (ICH- GCP)
  • Project Management Qualification

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Proven track record in delivering highly complex programmes of work to high standards
  • Experience of liaison with staff at all levels in an industry/Commercial contract setting
  • Experience in leading teams to achieve clear objectives
  • Experience of delivering studies to highly specialised and defined metrics, including implementation of contingency planning, project plans, risk analysis and innovative strategies
  • Experience of analysing and interpreting data.
  • Experience of Commercial contract clinical trial management, with the Pharmaceutical, Biotech or Medical Device industries
  • Project management experience in a leadership capacity - delivering highly complex projects involving multiple agencies and individuals in a range of tasks
  • Experience in managing and leading teams through significant organisational change

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of liaison with staff at all levels in an NHS setting
  • Research Management and Governance experience (ideally in an NHS setting)
  • Experience of direct line management

Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Professional highly specialised knowledge of UK commercial contract clinical research acquired in the life sciences sector
  • Highly specialised knowledge of the Commercial contract trial lifecycle, including experience of the set up (costing and contracts) and performance management of clinical research studies.
  • Knowledge of medical, scientific and /or research terminology Knowledge and understanding of the importance for the development and delivery of clinical research.
  • Knowledge of current national systems and structures for the approval, management and monitoring of clinical research in the NHS

Desirable criteria

  • Knowledge of the governance and legislative framework for conducting clinical research studies, including Good Clinical Practice.
