Aon are looking to hire an experienced UK VAT Senior Manager to join our team in London. This will be a hybrid position with the flexibility to work both from home and our London offices

The UK Senior Indirect Tax manager role at Aon is part of a highly motivated global indirect tax team, advising stakeholders (Finance, Legal, Business leads) on all indirect tax-related topics as well as having compliance responsibilities (review, sign-off VAT returns) and people manager responsibilities.

What the day will look like

Indirect Tax Activities

  • Provide indirect tax advice to the tax team, Finance, Legal and the business in response to queries but also proactively supporting teams on all indirect tax matters, varying from M&A implications, advice on new products, presenting VAT opportunities, ensuring compliance with relevant case law / legislation changes.
  • Providing input on client / finance / legal / tax - driven projects, which can include working with external advisers.
  • Ongoing indirect tax compliance oversight, including VAT return review and liaising with HMRC.
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders through ongoing communication and proactive knowledge sharing.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of all areas of the Aon business.
  • Keep technical knowledge up to date and offer support to others where relevant.
  • Take ownership of personal and professional development.

Team Leadership

  • Build and maintain an effective team by assessing and selecting individuals with the required skills and experience and through effective coaching and identifying, and acting upon, any development areas for colleagues. Provide opportunities for colleagues to improve and showcase their skills demonstrating collaborative teamwork.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • Ideally, professional Accounting / Tax qualification.
  • Strong indirect tax compliance knowledge.
  • Computer literate with a good command of Excel / Powerpoint.
  • Project management skills.
  • Enthusiastic and eager to achieve in a high performing team.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, relationship building and influencing skills at senior management level. Confidence and credibility to face off to the organisation's executive management and directors
