A little more about your role...
Reporting to the Head of UK Procurement, As Category Manager, you will be responsible for leading the sourcing strategies for IT within UK and EMEA with potential opportunities for Global scope, working up to WSP's Executive Level and working on synergy projects for acquisitions undertaken by the business.
Working on projects for both the WSP business and where we are sourcing solutions that will form part of our offering to customers, this is a varied and stretching role.
This role sits within a broader Sourcing Function aiming to add quality and value, contribute to operating margin and reduce the overall cost base within the business. Stakeholders will span all levels of staff within the WSP business and will extend to external suppliers.
A typical week would include:
- Representing the Category Management team within and outside the business.
- Representing procurement and delivering synergy savings as part of the wider Integration team bringing on the two new businesses.
- Responsible for development of pipeline of activity for the categories and delivering against plan.
- Overseeing the design and delivery of Category Strategies.
- Providing knowledge-based challenge and input into proposed strategies, drawing on knowledge of markets, suppliers and industries concerned
- Stakeholder engagement to ensure procurement are involved in a strategic capacity with all significant procurement activity from the very beginning.
- Ensuring that suppliers used are safe and sustainable
- Provision of timely and accurate forecast reports showing expected savings versus budget
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate...
- IT Procurement experience including an extensive background in negotiating software, services and hardware agreements.
- Commercially focused with a proven track record of cost reduction.
- Demonstrable knowledge of owning supplier management and performance
- Project management skills including cross-functional team management.
- Effective negotiator who understands Total Cost of Operation and utilising Supplier Relationship Management to achieve best value.
- Proven ability to build sustainable and productive relationships with suppliers.
- The ability to work with and senior leaders within the UK and Global business. These include CIO, COO and CFO.
