Investec are seeking a UK Tech Head of Data Governance to take on this pivotal leadership role focused on establishing, implementing, and overseeing a comprehensive data governance framework. This role emphasizes collaboration, education, and advocacy to ensure that all teams understand the value of data governance in accelerating project delivery, enhancing data quality, compliance, security, privacy, and preparing data to be AI-ready.

The role will need someone with a strong technical background, who can help our technology teams understand best practice around data governance and tools. The role will initially be working on it's own, with the potential for team growth of 2- 3 heads.

What you will be doing:

• Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a robust data governance framework encompassing data quality, data protection, data privacy, and data lifecycle management. Establish clear data governance policies, procedures, and standards, and foster a culture of responsible data management
• Collaboration & Advocacy: Serve as a data governance evangelist, fostering a culture of data stewardship and collaboration across all business units. Communicate the value and impact of data governance initiatives to stakeholders at all levels of the organisation, fostering buy-in and participation.
• Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure adherence to data protection laws and mitigate data-related risks.
• Data Quality: Oversee programs to monitor and improve data accuracy and reliability, Implement data quality metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of data governance initiatives and own and manage data governance tools eg Purview. Collaborate with technology and business units to implement tech to enhance data integrity and validation
• Information Security: Collaborate with InfoSec teams to protect sensitive data.
• AI Readiness: Prepare our data for AI initiatives by ensuring high data quality and accessibility.
• Continuous Improvement: Establish metrics to track and enhance data governance processes, identifying areas for improvement and driving continued enhancement of data governance processes

What we are looking for:

• Experience: Proven experience in data governance, with a strong understanding of data protection laws, compliance requirements, and best practices in data management.
• Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of the financial services industry and the specific data challenges and regulatory environment it faces
• Leadership: Strong leadership skills, with the ability to build consensus, foster collaboration, and inspire a culture of data stewardship and governance.
• Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively engaging with stakeholders across different levels and functions.
• Problem-Solving: Analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strategic mindset focused on balancing risk management with business objectives..

As part of our collaborative & agile culture, our working week is 4 days in the office and one day remote.
