THE ROLE
As a Graduate Project Manager, you will support the planning, coordination and delivery of projects while developing your technical and management skills within a structured environment. You will work alongside experienced Project Managers and site teams to gain exposure to project lifecycle management, ensuring works and completed safely, on time and within budget.
You will assist in managing day-to-day project activities, maintaining strong communication with internal teams and clients, ensuring high standards of safety, quality and customer service are upheld.
As a rapidly growing business, you will benefit from hands on experience across a verity of schemes. The nature of our business of our business means priorities can change, so you will need to be adaptable, proactive and keen to learn.
You will primarily be based in our Newton Aycliffe depot, with travel to sites as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, manage, and coordinate live projects, ensuring compliance with specifications and safe working practices.
- Develop Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and Health & Safety documentation.
- Ensure workforce compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures, including test and inspection plans.
- Collaborate with procurement to secure material approvals and place orders on time.
- Prepare and brief Job Packs for site operatives, ensuring project scope is clear.
- Manage project resources (labour, plant, and materials), monitoring productivity against programme and performance against budget.
- Review and approve operatives' site diaries and timesheets.
- Attend client meetings and build relationships with the site team.
- Oversee change management, working with the commercial team to track and administer changes, including redundant materials.
- Manage document control, including site records, as-builts, and O&M manual submissions.
- Conduct Toolbox Talks, site safety audits and quality inspections.
- Handle line management duties for Operatives such as absence, inductions, PDRs and training.
Essential Qualifications
- Degree (or working towards) in Project Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related.
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft word and excel
- Able to demonstrate excellent communication, people and team management skills
- Ability to lead and motivate the team by demonstrating the right behaviours, ensuring the culture of the team aligns with company values.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
- Placement year or internship experience within construction, civils or utilities
- Awareness of CDM regulations and construction
- Knowledge of project management principles
- CSCS Card (or willingness to obtain)
- Familiarity with Microsoft Project or similar planning tools
