Trust Manager in St Albans

Newstaff Employment is recruiting for an experienced Trust Manager in St Albans on behalf of a successful and highly respected firm. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive team and take ownership of a varied portfolio of UK resident and charitable trusts, reporting directly to the Directors and Partners.

Location: St Albans, Hertfordshire
Salary: £55,000 - £70,000 per annum (depending on experience) + Excellent Benefits
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week (flexible office hours)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a portfolio of UK residents and charitable trusts, ensuring all compliance deadlines are met
• Review work produced by junior team members, providing mentoring and training
• Assist with ad-hoc and advisory matters, including high-level tax and Inheritance Tax advice
• Collaborate with tax, accounts, and financial planning teams to deliver a seamless client experience
• Monitor budgets, manage your own chargeable time, and raise fee notes accordingly
• Opportunity to gain experience in charitable trusts, probate work, and estate accounts

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Strong understanding of trusts and relevant legislation
• Experience managing a trust portfolio in a professional setting
• Excellent communication, organisational, and teamwork skills
• Confident, flexible, and dependable with a proactive mindset
• Ability to build trust and rapport with clients and colleagues
• Ideally CTA and/or STEP qualified - or willing to work towards STEP
• Candidates qualified by experience will also be considered

IT Proficiency:

• Working knowledge of CCH Trust Accounts and CCH Personal Tax is desirable
• Familiarity with CCH Practice Management System is an advantage
