Salary - Up to 60,000 (dependent on experience)

Permanent

Hybrid - Travel to the Ashford Office a couple of times per month

Here at Saga, we are seeking a Risk Managerfor our Cruise and Travel businesses. This role is to support the Head of Risk and is responsible for the delivery of 2nd Line Risk and Assurance. This includes partnership for risk management, demonstrating best practices in executing risk duties, to deliver exceptional results to support and maintain the effectiveness of the internal risk and control environment.

Role Responsibility

  • Supporting design of the Risk Strategy and delivery of the risk roadmap for the Travel and Cruise businesses.
  • Facilitating the implementation of the enterprise risk management framework and enabling its continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring incidents are managed by the first line in line with the policy requirements, and independently checking and challenging 1stLine assessments and outcomes to ensure appropriate mitigation and management.
  • Facilitating the cascade of Group risk appetite statements for the BU / area of the business I support. Monitor the management of risk within the appetites through reporting.
  • Support the business to regularly review their Risk and Control Self Assessments (RCSAs) and ensuring internal control testing is undertaken effectively by the 1stline. Provision of 2ndline challenge where appropriate.
  • Facilitating the identification, development and deployment of appropriate risk management tools, techniques and processes to ensure risk management across the BU / areas of the business I support are value added and support the strategic objectives of Saga.
  • Administering the system for incident, risk and control documentation.
  • Actively promoting a risk culture that encourages appropriate risk taking, aligned to strategy and risk appetite, with effective and timely response to risk events according to the risk they present to the business.
  • Supporting development and maintenance of risk management policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure consistency and effectiveness in risk management practices.
  • Supporting managements understanding of the risk management system through facilitating training, informal discussion, online tools, policies and guidance documents.
  • Working with the responsible owners across the organisation providing 2ndline support to ensure their compliance with regulatory obligations, whilst taking a practical approach to risk-based challenges and offering appropriate solutions.
  • Preparing and presenting clear, concise risk reports and opinions to senior management and relevant stakeholders, highlighting key risk exposures, trends and mitigation activities. Ensuring risk reports identify root causes with practical solutions, and ultimately provide value to management.
  • Attending and participation in Exec risk committees and other governance fora where risk engagement is required.
  • Provide robust challenge and insights on key projects, key risk exposures, emerging risk, trends, control effectiveness, lessons learnt on material risk incidents.
  • Supporting the development and delivery of the 2ndLine assurance plan, execution of individual assurance assignments ensuring the highest level of service quality and stakeholder satisfaction. Providing robust assurance and risk-based, pragmatic and commercial recommendations to manage and mitigate risk.
  • Providing 2ndline representation for OAVs
  • Facilitating the BU / area of the business I support in understanding their role and accountabilities in mitigating and managing risk within their area of responsibility.
  • Supporting the annual assessment of the internal risk and control environment.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Lead International Safety Management (ISM) auditor qualification / ISM auditor qualification
  • ESG related professional qualification / certification (desirable)
  • Qualified and experienced Risk professional (minimum of three years operational and financial risk experience)
  • Industry experience working within Travel & Cruise (desirable)
  • Strong understanding of maritime regulation, and knowledge of Package Travel Regulations (PTRs) is desirable.
  • Extensive knowledge of risk, compliance and quality assurance in the context of travel businesses
  • Proven track record of working effectively with senior management on the internal risk and control agenda
  • Ability to understand and operate successfully in a complex, heavily matrixed corporate environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Stakeholder Management / business partnership skills building strong working relationships at all levels
