Transportation Manager - 18 month FTC, Global Transportation Services -Transportation & Third Party Operations
DESCRIPTION
This is an 18 month fixed term contract
We'd love to have you join one of the world's most customer centric companies. At Amazon, our continuing growth means that we must constantly innovate in order to deliver continuous improvement in performance quality, reliability, and cost and keep our world-class service running smoothly. We're growing our business across Europe and our teams are expanding to support this growth.
This is a UK based role, where we fulfill ~500MM units to customers every year, from across our complex network and manage volume flows from Amazon, 3P, and individual seller nodes through Amazon and 3P carrier arcs to addresses across the UK and internationally. UK transportation is responsible to make sure these shipments are successfully delivered on time, first time, in the ways our customers want them, at the lowest cost.
We are looking for a passionate, results-orientated, manager able to drive business change in a complex environment with multiple stakeholders and business partners. You will earn trust, but have strong backbone and be willing to drive hard to ensure that you and the team delivers performance in the face of competing trade-offs and agendas. You will have the quantitative/analytical chops to be able to zoom into the detail, and find the mis-aligned piece of the process, by deep diving the network optimization models, the forecasting, the capacity management process, or the story that the performance metrics are telling. You will have the ability to distill a complex of details and interactions into a succinct storyline and a clear call to action.
This is a highly visible role that requires partnering with super smart colleagues across the business -- Amazon Logistics, Amazon Transportation Services, Commercial carriers, Retail & FBA, warehouse operations, network operations & planning scientists, and analysts. The ideal candidate will have the tenacity and organized thinking of a prize-winning project manager, the insight of a penetrating data detective, with strong business analysis skills, quantitative acumen, great communication (written and verbal), prioritize well, work well under pressure and against deadlines, and have a consistent track record of success. You will be responsible for creating plans and presenting your ideas in written form for reviews with senior leadership.
The transportation manager will manage a portfolio of internal business partners / carriers. The candidate will play a key role in developing other leaders in UK transportation, by raising the bar of the delivery experience we provide to our customer, on our carriers, and internally across our teams. Building a collaborative and preferred relationship with carrier and a variety of internal stakeholders, many in different geographies, will be essential to succeed.
