HDR is in search of an experienced Transportation Manager to drive profitable and sustainable growth of our emergent transportation business in the United Kingdom (UK). This individual will collaborate with area and regional management and global market sector directors across HDR to spearhead the development of a successful transportation business in Aviation, Federal, Freight Rail, Highways & Roads, Maritime and Transit.

As a Transportation Manager you will possess strong leadership, communication, and technical skills to deliver transportation-related projects in the UK, secure and grow trusted relationships, and enlist, recruit, manage and mentor professional staff for the UK transportation team.

Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Transportation Business Group Manager, we'll count on you to:

  • Develop and execute strategies that identify, position, pursue, and secure new opportunities in all Transportation Business Group sectors of the UK market.
  • Develop relationships with key decision makers, stakeholders and potential teaming partners in the UK market that will support and elevate HDR's transportation business.
  • Leverage relationships with reputable firms in the UK to form strategic partnerships that lead to greater market penetration and an expanded service offering to our clients.
  • Collaborate across HDR business groups, market sectors and business classes to advance HDR growth initiatives, facilitate effective resource and knowledge sharing, and optimize HDR's organizational matrix.
  • Participate in development of branding and marketing collateral to share with prospective agency owners, teaming partners and industry stakeholders.
  • Work with area, regional, and global HDR leaders to recruit and hire professional and support staff to profitably grow the UK transport business.
  • Take responsible charge for coordination and performance of staff to produce quality deliverables that meet client expectations in the UK, and in other geographies through workshare, as applicable.
  • Participate in industry associations and forums to establish and maintain a visible and reputable profile for HDR.
  • Engage in go/no-go discussions, risk assessments, proposals, presentations and contract negotiations during the positioning for, and pursuit of, transportation projects.
  • As required, serve as project manager to plan, direct, and monitor all aspects of multi-disciplinary transportation projects that could involve advisory services, transportation and corridor planning, environmental and sustainability services, architectural and/or engineering design, systems engineering, program management, project controls, construction management, field services and commissioning. Management responsibility for project staffing, workload, quality and risk, schedule compliance, budget and financial performance, and subcontractor performance is incumbent with the role.
  • Participate in the annual budgeting process in collaboration with area, regional, and global leadership to sustain the HDR UK transportation business, and invest in its profitable future growth.
  • Maintain accepted professional and ethical standards, while complying with applicable laws, regulations, and provisions of HDR's Code of Conduct.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in planning, Architecture, Engineering, or related discipline
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in infrastructure and transportation project delivery in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Extensive experience in staff leadership, project management, business development and client management
  • A comprehensive understanding of the UK transportation market, and adaptable management, business development and technical skills sufficient to strategize, win and execute projects in all HDR transportation sectors - Aviation, Federal, Freight Rail, Highways & Roads, Maritime and Transit
  • Must have well-developed collaborative, analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
  • Experienced in development and management of diverse teams.
  • Experienced in overall staff development to include recruiting, career pathing and professional growth.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of HDR's employee-owned culture.
