Join us as our Transport Planning Optimisation Manager, to support transport activity, leading your team of planning supervisors/planners to create dynamic day to day planning for varied contracts within our network. You'll add great value by ensuring we provide best in-class service, focusing on effective and efficient transport solutions for deliveries/collections.

It's an exciting time to be joining us as we continue to expand, whilst also recently moving to our new be-spoke control tower in Nottingham!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of planning supervisors/ planners to create the dynamic day to day planning of a specific contract within our Wincanton network, ensuring the provision of an effective and efficient transport service resulting in timely deliveries/collections. Managing all elements of the plan, through to execution in a time critical environment.
  • Responsible for identifying strategic initiatives to deliver value to our customers as well as constantly reviewing the plan, driving improvements and adding in benefit.
  • Review and help from a strategic and optimisation perspective other areas of the Wincanton network as and when required.
  • Lead, train and develop members of the planning team through leadership with your supervisors.
  • Liaise with Operations department to ensure that the best plans are achieved - reviewing and manipulating the plan as required focusing on service, cost and KPI's. Carry out strategic planning and forecasting, taking into consideration seasonal changes and boundary realignments as necessary.
  • Responsible for generating and implementing new business into the current model and ensuring customer service KPIS are consistently met.
  • Complete comparison analysis on a regular basis - reviewing planned v actual.
  • Liaise with all stakeholder levels, providing accurate information through strong communication.

Note: This role is predominately based in Nottingham but requires the flexibility to travel nationally as and when required for operational needs.

What will you bring to our team?

We're looking for your strong analytical and continuous improvement mindset to lead the way to our success! Your proven transport optimisation planning experience with strong organisational skills and TMS literate (Paragon or other TMS based systems) will be essential (desirable for CPC, but not essential).

We're data savvy and you're excellent knowledge within excel, databases and rota building will work in partnership with our drive to hit KPIS and optimisation for our network. This is a great opportunity to utilise your knowledge within transport, commercial and financial acumen, along with utilising your strong communication for multiple stakeholder relationships.
