Think you know DHL? Think again. We're more than logistics - we're the people who help keep everyday life moving across the UK and beyond. We're now looking for a skilled Transport Operations Manager to support and lead our regional transport network across the North of England and Scotland, helping our teams perform at their best and guiding the operation through a period of positive change.
In this newly shaped role, you'll take ownership of a complex, multi-site transport operation, covering both open-book and closed-book activities and a large multi-temperature fleet. With significant scope to influence how our network runs and clear progression opportunities into broader leadership, this is your chance to make a real impact, bring energy to the team and help shape the future of our transport operation.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Lead and develop multiple transport operations across the North of England and Scotland, ensuring high performance, consistent standards, and strong engagement across both on-site and remote driver teams.
- Optimise and evolve the regional transport network, integrating with national operations to drive cost efficiency, improve service, and unlock new opportunities across both open-book and closed-book operations.
- Take full accountability for regional performance, including service, safety, KPIs, P&L, compliance, and continuous improvement across all transport sites.
- Build, coach and inspire high-performing teams, setting expectations, enhancing capability, driving succession planning, and fostering a positive, engaging culture following recent organisational changes.
- Strengthen key stakeholder relationships with partners, unions, suppliers, and local industry networks-representing the transport operation at service reviews and ensuring strong communication and collaboration.
- Play a key role in the site leadership team, driving operational excellence, shaping direction, and supporting the overall success of the wider operation.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- A valid Transport Manager CPC and a strong background in leading multi-site or large-scale transport operations, with proven success in delivering safe, compliant and high-performing transport solutions.
- Experience managing sizable and complex fleets, ideally including multi-temperature vehicles, with the ability to optimise utilisation, control costs and adapt to changing regional service demands.
- A confident, influential leadership style, capable of building capability, setting standards, resolving team challenges and inspiring a positive, engaging culture across diverse and remote teams.
- Strong commercial and analytical acumen, with the ability to manage P&L performance, understand open-book/closed-book models, challenge cost drivers and contribute to broader site strategy.
- Exceptional stakeholder and relationship-building skills, comfortable working with unions, suppliers, partners and industry groups, while representing the transport operation with professionalism and credibility.
- A proactive, innovative mindset, bringing fresh ideas, resilience, a drive for continuous improvement, and an ambition to grow into broader site leadership responsibilities.
