Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Transport Operations Manager working at our Marshalls Newport site. They will be responsible for a number of vehicles on a national contract, a team of administrators and drivers, over 5 days a week, with budget and service responsibility.
How will you contribute?
- Ensure the operation achieves targeted daily and weekly KPIs, through effective use of the planning / scheduling information available, providing a first-class service to the customer within budget
- Build and maintain an effective customer relationship; ensuring that service is consistently meeting the customers' requirements, in line with the Service Level Agreements, through optimising resource management, technology, fleet utilisation and colleague engagement.
- Giving direction and monitoring performance, ensuring the site runs efficiently and effectively with direct responsibility for the transport activities on site, including managing vehicle legislation and maintenance scheduling
- Ensure effective communication throughout the operational leadership team.
- Ensuring all activities meet the Wincanton standard for Health, Safety, and the Environment, driving contribution to the safety culture.
- Develop an engaged, high-performance team culture - where growth mindset is prevalent.
- To ensure the operation is fully compliant with all legislation.
- Assisting in leading and developing a culture of continuous improvement to drive best-in-class activity and operational excellence, in line with performance objectives.
- Ensure the team are working towards all relevant policies and procedures.
What will you bring?
- International CPC required.
- Experience within an operational environment, working to tight deadlines on your own initiative.
- Ability to develop your team, ensuring that they are well informed and well-motivated and managed effectively to achieve their personal goals as well as their operational KPI's.
- Understanding of drivers working time directive and EU regulations.
- A positive and flexible attitude to work being reliable and punctual.
- Excellent computer skills, specifically MS Office applications and knowledge of Transport Management Systems.
- Experience of managing a team, including welfare, disciplinary and grievances.
- Demonstrate knowledge of transport legislation.
- Numerate, with experience of delivering targets within budgetary constraints.
