DHL, an award-winning leading supply chain business is seeking a Transport First Line manager to play a vital role coordinating our daily logistics requirements. To succeed in this role, you should have a comprehensive knowledge of supply chain supervisory practices and a demonstrative understanding of warehouse procedures, including storing goods, dispatching orders and tracking transportation vehicles.
WHAT DOES THE ROLE ENTAIL?
- Responsible for managing drivers and mates ensuring everyone has the required training and tools to complete their role successfully, remaining compliant at all times. Monitor and drive individual and site performance ensuring processes are adhered to and Contractual KPI's are met.
- Transport Manager is also accountable for the legal and efficient execution of transport operations, and is the named CPC holder on the operator license.
- Maintain service schedules and ensure all O licence commitments are met, action all defects immediately following the correct process and ensure any VOR vehicles are kept off the road until rectified.
- Coordinate staff training - identify needs of drivers and mates to ensure all employees are trained to use all tools/equipment and vehicles within their remit.
- Manage operational costs and identification of cost performance trends - i.e. fuel performance/accidents etc.
- Span of control circa x100 and fleet size of circa x50.
WHAT DO WE NEED FROM YOU?
- Minimum 2 years previous and practical experience as a Transport Supervisor within a logistics environment.
- Knowledge of Working Time Legislation & EU driving legislation.
- Strong influencing skills.
- Computer literate, with a practical knowledge of logistics software packages such as Key 2 and Tachomaster desired.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to supervise, organise and train direct reports.
- CPC essential.
