This is an exciting opportunity within a Logistics Operation . A.F. Blakemore are recruiting at their purpose built multi temperature depot in Bedford. We are looking for an experienced Transport Manager who is motivated, friendly, hard-working and passionate. The ideal candidate has the drive and motivation to support and engage a diverse team. You will have overall responsibility of the management of the daily activity of the company's fleet policy and associated transport staff in line with legal requirements, company policy and procedures, quality standards and within budget, whilst ensuring that an effective service is provided to the customer.

Some Key Accountabilities
Delivering an effective daily operating plan
Ensuring the download of all company related tachograph information, to include tacho charts and digital cards
Accident reduction through continued training and assessment
Effective debrief of drivers to include effective use of Bluetree system, driver score cards and completion of tachograph infringements
Fuel usage reduction through SAFED training and continued assessment
Delivering the best service at the minimum cost by managing headcount, vehicle resource and best price purchasing
Liaising with support desk staff, internal departments and customers in relation to delivery constraints e.g. late deliveries
Effective control of contract maintenance work
Overseeing direct reports in relation to all aspects of performance and development in line with the leadership competencies
Active participation in development projects to improve customer service whilst working within budgeted costs
Key Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Qualifications
CPC and HGV 1 Licence
Basic education (numeracy and literacy)
Knowledge of tachograph regulations and working time regulations essential
Knowledge of vehicle maintenance schedules essential
Experience of working with a mixed fleet essential
Knowledge of driver CPC essential
Previous line management experience and basic knowledge of employment law/HR policy preferred but not essential
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships
Customer focussed and understands the importance of this to the business
Challenges appropriately and identifies areas for improvement
Flexible approach to working hours
Ability to deal with conflict in an effective and professional manner
Demonstrates integrity, a strong work ethic and upholds the company values and principles
