Job Description

You will play a central role in translating our purpose, vision and business strategy into action; deliver ground-breaking transformational change to continually improve McDonald's capability and success. This means that you will be leading the business to deliver its strategic priorities.

You will provide strategic alignment, execution excellence and management of all transformation programs embedded in the market. You will develop and uphold program management governance standards and processes as defined by the Enterprise Transformation Office and ensure the alignment of market transformation with enterprise goals and priorities, solving and advocating for market specific nuances and challenges.

This will require excellent critical and customer-obsessed thinking, the ability to influence and deliver through others, a curious mind and an appetite for innovation, together with the ability to engage, mobilise and excite our people and partners around business change.

You will also be responsible for challenging the business in terms of how we work - focusing on how we can work smarter rather than harder; maximising capacity to focus on value-add activities and ensuring the right resources sit in the right places to deliver our strategy.

What will my accountabilities be?
While you will have the opportunity to shape the role over time, your key accountabilities are:

  • Accountable for the creation and refinement of a deliverable, costed business plan (i.e., 'Carpark' Plan) and it's adaption/maintenance to accommodate changing priorities, resources or external factors.
  • Recognise the impact of, and opportunity from, global initiatives across the business and ensure they are reflected as appropriate in overall plans, whilst balancing with local market initiatives.
  • Ensure the business plan ladders-up to the strategy and is translated into clear plans that everyone can understand, shaping a balanced, sustainable and deliverable project portfolio.
  • Accountable for project intake process (i.e., funnel for all project/programme change).
  • Maintain the integrity of the project portfolio by ensuring project business cases are valid and that approved projects are initiated, prioritised, funded and resourced for success.
  • Understand existing market capacity to enable prioritisation of work, and support definition of and mobilisation of in-market teams for each project/programme (in conjunction with global where the programme is globally driven).
  • Proactively identify trade-offs and dependencies and equip Leadership and Change Steering Group with the information needed to make informed strategic and commercial decisions.
  • Define and implement an effective project governance framework and establish the tools and templates required to support this.
  • Establish a business view of critical path achievements and ensure tracking and reporting against this including key delivery risks, issues and dependencies via project governance.
  • Define and lead high quality regular Leadership reporting to enable clear understanding of project portfolio status and enable informed decisions.
  • Work closely with Business Strategy & Insight to agree effective business planning timelines and responsibilities and contribute to the continued improvement of the business planning framework and processes.
  • Work with finance for effective investment governance for all projects in the portfolio.
  • Collaborate closely with Enterprise Transformation Office and program leadership to seamlessly integrate and execute programmes such as GBS, Arch OS, MCX, etc, in market.
  • Act as a key liaison with various stakeholders, including global, segment, and market leadership to drive alignment.
  • Align leadership on change vision and strategy across the market, ensuring leaders understand their role and advocate for change. As part of this drive a connected transformational message across all programmes.
  • Accountable for the organisation of and delivery of market communications in relation to delivery of transformational programmes.
  • Provide effective change management leadership for UK & Ireland so that the change vision is delivered using innovative solutions fostering a strong and robust project management culture.
  • Be the custodian of the UK&I operating model - proactively and independently challenge and innovate; to find new ways to improve the way we work as a business.
  • Accountable for the development of project management capability across the business.
  • Champion and embed leadership competency of Change Proficiency aligned with internal standards.
  • Provide objective and friendly challenge to everything we do through a transformation lens.

What Team will I join?
You will be part of the Strategy, Insights and Transformation team in the UK&I market, and also part of the global Transformation Management Office. These hugely important teams connect people across our business to focus on delivering the right projects, in the best way, to achieve our business goals. It proactively and independently challenges and innovates, working diligently to improve the way we work and deliver change as a business.

You will have a dual reporting line, reporting in market to the VP of Strategy, Insights & Transformation, as well as the Segment PMO Lead within the Global Transformation Management Office. You will be required to work collaboratively with colleagues' right across the business and with external partners to amplify the impact you can have. This is a truly exciting time to lead the Transformation team and collaborate with Senior Leaders across the business to influence the outcomes for change.

Who are my customers?
Given the central nature of the role, your 'customers' are wide and varied. With strong engagement and influencing being strengths, you will also have the emotional intelligence and flexibility in thinking and acting to engage with relevancy and authenticity at every level. Your key customers (not exclusive) include:

  • Transformation Management Office - retain alignment and report on delivery of the Accelerating the Arches vision.
  • UK&I Senior Leadership team - influence strategic direction and create alignment.
  • UK&I leadership team - align functional leaders around the plan and enable them to deliver it.
  • UK&I Change Steering Group - use governance optimally to hold the business to account.
  • Project leads - advocate and demonstrate innovative and agile ways of executing change.
  • UK&I communications team - ensure our strategic storytelling is simple, clear and consistent.
  • Franchisees - collaborate and value them as a business partner and change enabler.
  • Suppliers and partners - demonstrate our scale through smart partnering and resource sharing.
  • Restaurants - making sure that in whatever we do we stay grounded and keep it real.
  • Global - supporting functional leaders with aligning on Global initiatives.

Qualifications

Education & Certification

  • Project Mgmt. Professional (PMP®) Certified
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Communications, HR, Data & Analytics, or related field
