About the Role
This role will support the transactional arm of the legal team, providing assistance with all types of property transactions, legal supplier management and financial control, as well as innovation to the legal process, aiding for example continuous improvements.
There will be an emphasis on providing dedicated legal support to the Estates project having
responsibility for delivering the legal completion of a quantity of Code Agreement / Lease /
License / Freehold Acquisition transactions internally.
You would be aligned with the leads of the Estates team and would be responsible for the end-to-end transactions instructed to them, based upon agreed Heads of Terms. The role would report directly into the Senior Property Counsel within the Legal & Compliance Team.
Key Responsibilities:
•You would be expected to rapidly build upon their knowledge of telecoms leases within the role, given Cornerstone's agreements are centered around the Electronic Communications Code (2017). Prior experience of the Code would be advantageous. You will also be expected to be proficient in acquiring freehold land (acquisitions of part) including all associated due diligence and post completion tasks.
•Receive and check agreed Heads of Terms, liaise with the Site Provider's Solicitor to ensure it is similarly instructed and check any site-specific queries that may affect the legal process with the relevant ADM.
•Prepare the draft transactional document using Cornerstone's library of template contracts.
•Negotiate the Agreement with the Site Provider's Solicitor
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
•A qualified solicitor with experience in commercial property conveyancing from a well-regarded city / regional firm.
•2-3 years' PQ experience in commercial conveyancing transactions, particularly relating to landlord and tenant matters as well as freehold acquisitions.
•Experience working within a busy in-house legal team.
•A background in practicing commercial Property Law.
•A robust understanding of the conveyancing process (Landlord/Tenant law).
•Responsive and approachable; able to build strong working relationships.
