Are you an enthusiastic training professional ready to make a real impact? The Royal Borough of Greenwich's Street Services is looking for an exceptional Training and Development Manager who will revolutionize how we onboard, develop and empower our 446-strong team.

Our Street Services department is the backbone of the borough's cleanliness and sustainability efforts, delivering vital waste collection, disposal, and street cleansing services to residents and businesses across Greenwich. Now, we need your expertise to ensure our team has the skills, knowledge, and confidence to deliver excellence.

What You'll Do:

As our Training and Development Manager, you will design and implement a comprehensive training programme that caters to diverse learning styles through classroom sessions, e-learning modules, hands-on training, and practical exercises. Your work will directly impact service delivery quality while ensuring staff safety and compliance.

You will:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify critical learning needs and future requirements
  • Create innovative, cost-effective training plans that maintain technical competence and statutory compliance
  • Design engaging, accessible training content across multiple platforms
  • Lead the delivery of specialized training including Driver CPC training (109 professional drivers)
  • Manage the Street Services LMS system and maintain comprehensive training records
  • Deliver flexible training that works around service delivery schedules
  • Empower supervisors through Train the Trainer methodologies
  • Oversee the Street Services apprenticeship programme
  • Manage and monitor the training budget effectively

You will be a dynamic training professional who can identify needs, develop engaging programs, and deliver training that inspires and motivates. You will understand the challenges of frontline service delivery and can adapt your approach to accommodate diverse learning needs and operational constraints.

Essential qualifications include Train the Trainer (Level 3) and Level 3 Award in Education and Training (formerly PTLLS). Experience with or willingness to train as a JAUPT trainer for Driver CPC is required. You will need to be flexible, occasionally working weekends to support service delivery.
