Trainee Project Manager - A&P Tyne

This engineer level position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience, develop key project management skills, and contribute to high-impact engineering projects from day on to ensure all aspects of the work that we are doing is planned, coordinated and expedited as needed.

In our fabrication facility complete with panel line, rolling, plasma and gas burning machines, our latest endeavour at A&P Tyne is a key large scale newly designed customer project that will be worked for a number of years to come. It's an exciting first for the facility and the project is progressing at a pace.

And what will you do?

  • You will assist our Project Managers in the planning, execution, and delivery of complex heavy fabrication projects
  • Coordinating project schedules, budgets, and resources, you'll be ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met
  • You will support in managing project risks, issues, and change requests
  • Communicating effectively with internal teams, clients, contractors, and suppliers you'll monitor progress and report on key milestones and project performance

And what are we looking for?

  • A degree or qualification in engineering, construction management, or a related field
  • A strong interest in project management and heavy engineering
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • A proactive approach and eagerness to learn in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of fabrication, structural and production processes and engineering principles to compliment your qualifications
  • Experience in commercial management, including budgeting and cost control
  • The ability to manage and negotiate with technical subcontractors effectively using strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Working experience with relevant software and tools like CAD and MS Project

Due to the nature of what we do for some of the customers that we work with, some roles working for A&P are subject to security control restrictions. These restrictions mean that factors including your nationality, any previous nationalities you have held, and your place of birth may limit those roles you can perform with us.

You must also undergo a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check before your employment starts, which will include a basic DBS check.
