  • You will be required to work a rotating 7-day roster including early, late, and night shifts. You must be able to arrange your own transport to ensure timely arrival for early and late shifts.

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Train Service Manager to join our team within the Greater Anglia Control at the Romford ROC. This is a pivotal role at the heart of our daily operations, ensuring that thousands of passengers receive a safe, punctual, and reliable service.

As a Train Service Manager, you will play a central part in managing the real-time train service across the Greater Anglia network. You'll be responsible for monitoring service performance, taking decisive action to recover the timetable during disruption, and overseeing key performance and contractual interfaces with Network Rail.

This position requires a strong understanding of railway operations, the ability to remain calm under pressure, and a confident approach to fast decision making. You will work closely with colleagues across the business and build effective working relationships with Network Rail and other external partners to deliver the best possible service for our customers.

Key Responsibilities
• Manage the safe and punctual delivery of the live train service.
• Monitor train running, identify issues, and implement recovery strategies during disruption.
• Collaborate with Network Rail and internal stakeholders to coordinate operational decisions.
• Provide clear, timely, and effective communication to all relevant parties.
• Support performance improvement by understanding root causes and contributing to continuous improvement activities.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

What We're Looking For:

  • Enthusiastic and committed - with a passion for delivering excellent service.
  • Organised and proactive - able to prioritise in a fast-moving environment.
  • Calm under pressure - confident in making quick, informed decisions.
  • An excellent communicator - with excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Customer-focused - always acting with the passenger experience in mind. Experience in railway operations or a control environment is a necessitated for this role.
  • Understanding of operational safety frameworks (Rule Book, operational standards)
  • Understanding signalling, planning and fleet constraints
