Trading Law Support Officer

We're recruiting a Trading Law Support Officer to join our Quality, Technical & Sustainability team on a 12‑month fixed term contract.
In this role, you'll play a key part in supporting our retail operations to remain compliant with Irish Food Law and Food Safety standards, helping to protect our customers, colleagues and business.

Working closely with the Food Safety Manager and Trading Law team, you'll provide practical, risk‑based advice to stores, support regulatory engagement, and help create a positive compliance culture across our retail network.

You will be responsible for

  • Supporting stores to comply with Irish Food Law and internal Food Safety Management Systems
  • Reviewing store food safety records and identifying non‑compliance or risk trends
  • Completing in‑store visits and inspections to assess food safety controls and provide face‑to‑face guidance
  • Reviewing and responding to Environmental Health Officer (EHO) correspondence and supporting stores with follow‑up actions
  • Advising stores on cold chain controls, temperature monitoring and other key food safety processes
  • Acting as a point of contact for store queries on food safety and compliance matters
  • Supporting investigations into quality complaints and ensuring appropriate corrective actions
  • Working with enforcement agencies to resolve issues and help prevent formal action
  • Producing clear reports and updates for internal stakeholders, including Retail Operations and senior technical teams

You will need

  • Significant experience working in retail operations, ideally at store level
  • Experience in a food safety, compliance or regulatory role within a retail environment
  • A good working knowledge of food safety legislation, risk assessment and audit processes
  • Strong communication skills, with the confidence to deliver clear messages in challenging situations
  • The ability to analyse information, use judgement and prioritise risk effectively
  • A calm, professional approach and a high level of personal integrity
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • The ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders across the business
