We are looking for a Trade Manager Damp & Mould, to join our Housing Repairs and Maintenance team at Bristol City Council. This role is an exciting opportunity to lead the Damp and Mould Team to ensure compliance with Awaabs Law and deliver a first class service to our tenants, managing a team of surveyors to deliver safe, secure homes for our residents.
Our service is responsible for maintaining 27,500 homes for residents and leaseholders, delivering reactive and planned maintenance on an annual budget exceeding £100m. We are dedicated to providing high-quality repairs while ensuring value for money and positive outcomes for the community.
What You'll Be Doing
In this role, you will:
- Manage and lead a team of staff in collaboration with Colleagues and Contractors providing repairs and maintenance to council owned dwellings managed by Landlord Services within the HRA ensuring completed works are compliant with relevant building regulations and housing legislation.
- To maintain the day-to-day management and development of all staff and surveyors in the team, primarily composed of four surveyors, administrators and general trades including responsive repairs operatives.
- Assist Service Manager with the monitoring and development of Damp and Mould policies and updating legislative changes, seeking best practice, ideas and innovative solutions, and ensuring they are applied within the Service.
- Ensure customer engagement in the service to empower and enable customers to make decisions on how the service is delivered.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking a professional who will bring:
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of health & safety issues, including Awaabs Law and requirements related to the construction industry, including relevant CDM experience.
- Experience of managing trades and technically qualified staff with the ability to lead, motivate, performance manage and develop others to continuously improve the customer's experience.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills with a 'can do' attitude to staff resources so that all work progresses smoothly and with minimal inconvenience to the customer.
Additionally, you should have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and a commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion in your work.
