Job Description
In the role of Trade Compliance Officer or Senior Trade Compliance Officer you will support our organisaton in achieving business success by complying fully with UK, U.S. and other countries' import/export, anti-bribery, and customs legislation when delivering on our objectives.
Typical day to day activities include:
- Ensuring Mission Systems Programmes and business development activities comply with all aspects of Import, Export and Anti-Corruption Compliance (collectively 'Trade Compliance')
- Liaising with business unit personnel to identify Trade Compliance requirements, devise detailed plans, and ensure stakeholder buy-in
- Researching and staying current on relevant Trade Compliance rules and regulations
- Preparing and processing accurate import/export documentation, customs documents, and licence applications
- Supporting the business in dealing with US and non-US suppliers of US controlled items, ensuring accurate US authorisation
- Providing guidance, support, and training to BU employees on Trade Compliance processes and requirements
- Assisting with the BU Anti-bribery and Corruption compliance programme, including processing of Gift and Hospitality requests and due diligence
- Maintaining comprehensive records for all Trade Compliance activities and supporting audit requirements
- Any other duties required by the Trade Compliance Dept. in assisting Programmes, Projects, and Support Functions in discharging their Trade Compliance obligations

Qualifications
To be successful in the role you will demonstrate:
- Detailed knowledge and experience in implementing UK and US export controls, customs controls, and anti-corruption legislation
- Proficiency in using UK Government licensing portal and relevant software applications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information to various audiences
- Proactive approach with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
- Commitment to continuous improvement and ability to make clear decisions under pressure
Additional Information
Starting salary for this position could range between £31,000 to £50,000 depending on your experience level, plus our excellent flexible benefits package.
We offer hybrid working - for this role ideally we are looking for an average of 2 days per week per month on site. This role could be based from our offices in Oakdale, South Wales or Hastings.
