Core Hours: 08:00-16:35 (Mon-Thu) 08:00-15:10 (Fri).
Vacancy Type: Full-time, Permanent and Hybrid (subject to operational needs)
Salary: £55,000 - £60,000 per annum (subject to experience)

JOB SUMMARY

NP Aerospace is seeking an experienced Trade Compliance Manager to ensure full compliance with all relevant import and export regulations impacting our business. This includes adherence to US International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and UK Export Regulations.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing and controlling import and export requirements in our daily operations. Key responsibilities include providing strategic advice to support business planning, preparing and processing applications, expediting approvals, maintaining accurate records, and monitoring compliance deadlines.

Please Note: This is a hybrid role. You will be mainly based on-site with home working available when suitable and with manager approval.

JOB DUTIES

  1. Development, implementation, management and improvement of policies and procedures relating to import / export compliance and ITAR, ensuring business adherence where applicable.
  2. Provision of training to ensure that the key personnel are fully aware of their responsibilities in respect of import and export controls including ITAR.
  3. Timely preparation, processing and hastening of Licencing applications along with the maintenance of concise records relating to their use.
  4. Management of agreements relating to imports and exports such as TAA's, PEA's, Declarations and Retransfers, and ensure that they are correct and up to date.
  5. Responsible for ensuring business compliance in accordance with all Compliance laws and regulations.
  6. Identify and advise the business on any changes to legislation or government policy that may impact on our business.
  7. Provide support and guidance as required to the Business Development, R&D and Commercial teams, including but not limited to; movement of demonstration stock to support trade shows and exhibitions, F1686, F680, PV Grading and Exhibition Clearance applications.
  8. Responsible for preparing accurate and compliant import/export paperwork, customs documents and maintain/control complete records for audit and future reference purposes.
  9. Provide support in conducting Due Diligence/Sanction Screening on all End-Users, Export Customers and Third Parties.
  10. Liaising and management of nominated freight forwarder(s) to organise all movements required by the business.
  11. Liaising with internal and external customers/agencies to ensure trade compliance and allow business objectives to be met in the most effective and efficient manner possible.
  12. Responsible for determining the HMRC tariff and customs procedure codes for imports and exports as required.
  13. Responsible for determining the classification of goods, software, and technology to be exported.

EXPERIENCE

  • Defence industry experience.
  • Previous experience in export compliance roles.
  • Knowledge and understanding of all core regulations.
  • Experienced in working with and implementing ITAR & EAR rules and regulations.
  • Experience in working with and implementing UK export controls.
  • Knowledge, understanding and previous experience of the SPIRE, CHIEF and LITE system.
  • Awareness and understanding of business agreements/contracts.
  • All round commercial awareness and numeracy.
  • Computer literate with good knowledge of all core Microsoft Office products.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both internally and externally. In particular, the ability to engage export authorities effectively to resolve issues and hasten action.
  • A methodical but reasoning mind with particular attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyse complex business situations and advise on the impact of export controls and provide clear instructions at all levels.
  • Able to work well and make clear rational decisions under pressure and work to tight timescales.
