Tooling Senior Specialist

As a Tooling Senior Specialist, you will be providing hands on as well as administrative support for checking, measuring and ordering tooling. You will work on day shift, Monday to Friday 8am - 4.30pm (3.30pm finish on Friday). There will be a requirement to cover the back shift during any periods of absence and holidays within the team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Machining- Lathe turning, milling, use of manual machines including hand tools to perform a wide range of tooling repair, re-sizing, and cleaning operations.
  • Measuring and recording die sizes, which will require the use of CMM (Co-ordinate Measuring Machine) equipment.
  • Auditing tool stocks- performing regular stock takes.
  • Ordering new tooling.

The successful candidate will be required to have a competent level of skill on traditional machine tools such as Lathes and milling. This would ideally be backed up with certification on training or skills attainment.

  • A substantial skill level in workshop tool making, turning, milling and measuring.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances and dimensional checking of tooling against drawings.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new skills such as CMM measuring.
  • Effective communication skills including internally and with Suppliers.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Self-motivated and proactive, whilst maintaining high levels of personal productivity and integrity.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • You will have a passion for success and be focused on meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrate and align with the values of the company demonstrating honesty, integrity, customer service focus, quality focus, excellence and innovation.
  • The ability to weld would be highly desirable.
  • A BTEC Level 3 or ONC (or equivalent) would be highly desirable.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including hearing protection, gloves, hard hat, safety shoes and safety glasses.
  • Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test as well as achieving a satisfactory result in a company medical.
